The Memory Collector by Rae Stonehouse

In the quiet New England town of Daybridge, Detective Alice Chen investigates a bizarre case: residents are forgetting specific memories—a constellation, a family recipe, a childhood story—with surgical precision. As more citizens report missing memories and reality itself begins to fray at the edges, Alice discovers an ancient secret society tasked with protecting the town from forces beyond conventional understanding. The Memory Collector has returned, harvesting knowledge for purposes unknown, and the boundary between worlds grows dangerously thin.

Thrust into the role of "The Anchor," Alice must work with the enigmatic Order of the Ebon Star to stabilize reality before Daybridge is consumed by the encroaching otherworld. With a skeptical partner, a town gradually losing its collective mind, and a mysterious professor whose research may hold the key to salvation or destruction, Alice races to uncover the truth about the town's supernatural history. As blue-white energy ripples across Daybridge and citizens develop impossible abilities, she faces a fundamental question: which memories are worth preserving in a world on the brink of transformation?
