Bases Full! (Restored Classics to Go Edition)

Bases Full! plunges into the heat of Wyndham's fiercest contests, where school pride, rivalry, and personal ambition collide on the ice, the field, and the river. In a tense hockey showdown with Wolcott Academy, substitute left wing Clifton Bingham waits for his chance to prove that Coach "Pinky" Hilliard has overlooked him. When Captain Cooper finally sends him in, Clif throws himself into the frantic closing minutes, shadows the dangerous Houston, and helps drive the puck in for a hard-won Wyndham victory. From that triumph, the story moves into spring with the lively friendship of Clif, Tom Kemble, and Loring Deane—the self-styled Triumvirate. Their banter reveals sharp contrasts: Clif is teasing and confident, Tom is blunt and practical, and Loring is thoughtful, brilliant, and cheerfully disabled, living with calcified legs in a wheelchair while excelling at schoolwork and chess. As baseball tryouts begin, Tom battles his dislike of English and his fear of overthinking, then surprises everyone by batting with new confidence after simply deciding to trust himself. The boys' adventures continue with a comic trip to a rowing race in Gussie Meggs's battered Ford, "The Wreck of the Hesperus," ending amid the excitement of a crowded boathouse and another test of Wyndham spirit. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
