The Quiet Marshal by Terence Newnes

A violent past. A debt to settle.

Wesley Travis was only fifteen when renegades murdered his parents before his eyes. After burying them with his own hands, he vowed that one day, the men responsible would pay.

That promise takes him across the West, from Texas to Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and New Mexico, as he follows a trail of vengeance that lasts for years. In a remote corner of southwest New Mexico, Wesley finds a place where he can bury the past: as town marshal, he keeps the peace without reaching for his gun.

Folks call him the Quiet Marshal and some say he's a coward, afraid to face a man in a gunfight. But when the past he tried to leave behind comes riding into town, a legend will draw his gun once more, as the Quiet Marshal will get one final chance to finish what began beside his parents' graves all those years ago.
