Fruit- Gathering by Rabindranath Tagore

Fruit-Gathering is a lyrical journey through longing, surrender, and spiritual awakening, tracing a soul's movement from fear and self-protection toward a life offered more fully and freely. In poem after poem, the speaker leaves behind comfort, status, and hollow grandeur to seek a deeper truth in love, suffering, and devotion. Fruit, rivers, stars, flowers, roads, and dawn birds become living signs of the divine, while parables and stories reveal the futility of attachment and the hidden value of humility, truthfulness, and mercy. The book's meditations range from grief and memory to desire, renunciation, and ecstatic union. It honors love as tenderness, judgment, and transformation, whether in the tale of Upagupta, the truth-tested boy Satyakāma, or the brave maid Shrimati's quiet sacrifice. Again and again, the speaker asks for strength rather than comfort, blessing deprivation, accepting loss, and following the beloved into mystery. By the end, the inner life opens into a cosmic abundance where body, spirit, and nature share one radiant source. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
