Hard Check by Kayla Brenner

Wren just wants to write one honest story - no glossy portrait, no convenient quotes. But Deacon, the tight-lipped captain of the Saint Clare Ravens, stands in her way. He gives no interviews, lets no one close, and the harder Wren pushes, the more her journalistic distance starts to slip. Between cold rinks, late practices, and conversations that keep getting more personal, something neither of them planned begins to grow. But a reporter and the man she is supposed to write about - that can never work. Or can it? The first book in the Saint Clare Ravens series: a gripping New Adult sports romance full of tension, closeness, and big emotions. Dual first-person POV.
