BEFORE DIVIDING THE WORLD. From Tai Chi to the Principle of Complementarity: A New Way of Seeing Reality by MARTHA DOLORES DELGADO

Before Dividing the World is a philosophical meditation on how human beings know reality. Beginning with Tai Chi and the logic of complementarity, Martha Dolores Delgado Wise asks what exists before the mind names, measures, classifies, and divides.

Drawing on the conceptual framework developed in The Mirror of Objectivity, she distinguishes between passive consciousness—the receptive dimension of experience—and active consciousness—the analytic power that interprets, organizes, and constructs concepts.

The problem is not reason, science, measurement, or artificial intelligence. It begins when our representations are mistaken for reality itself. Through examples drawn from art, science, bodily practice, everyday life, and AI, the book develops the principle of reversible complementarity: receive, elaborate, and return.

Objectivity, from this perspective, depends on preserving structural fidelity between what we receive and what we represent. Before Dividing the World invites readers to distinguish without isolating, analyze without fragmenting, and use our most powerful tools without losing the relationships that make reality intelligible.

Esta descripción conserva la tesis real del libro: recibir y elaborar son funciones necesarias; el problema aparece al confundir representación y realidad, y la propuesta introduce el retorno y la complementariedad reversible.
