The Last Signal by Chris Crockford

At 2:17 in the morning, an impossible emergency broadcast appears across Britain.

The coastal evacuation has failed.
Do not travel inland.
Do not respond to familiar voices.
The final transmission will begin in seventy-two hours.

Minutes later, the coastal town of Bellwether Bay disappears from every civilian and military communications network.

Daniel Merrick once worked on LASTLIGHT, a secret emergency system that should have been shut down years ago. Now it has reactivated, overridden national networks, and identified Daniel as an authorised operator.

As coastal towns fall silent and frightened people begin receiving calls from dead relatives and familiar voices, the government orders civilians inland. LASTLIGHT is telling them to do the opposite.

With his daughter trapped near the coast, his estranged wife caught in the growing chaos, and a countdown already running, Daniel must discover what LASTLIGHT knows before the final transmission begins.

But the signal is not simply warning them.

Something is listening.

The Last Signal is Book One of The Lastlight Trilogy, a British disaster thriller combining technological conspiracy, supernatural suspense and an escalating fight for survival.
