Uncle Wiggily on the Farm by Howard Roger Garis

Uncle Wiggily Longears turns everyday errands into a parade of comic surprises in this lively collection of animal tales. On a visit to the farm, he tries to help with the chores, only to mistake crows' eggs for hen's eggs, get stuck under the barn, and confuse turnips for eggs, discovering that farm life is full of unexpected complications. Back at Nurse Jane's house, ordinary cleaning tasks become a battle of wits as he sweeps, washes, chops wood, and rakes the yard while outsmarting the Pipsisewah, Skeezicks, Skuddlemagoon, Boozap, and Blue Nosed Babboon. The fun continues when Uncle Wiggily visits Mrs. No-Tail and is nearly fooled by Bully and Bawly, two mischievous frog boys who cut holes in his umbrella to ruin his luck in the rain. Again and again, he escapes through shelter, companionship, or quick thinking, proving that cheerfulness, kindness, and resourcefulness can turn trouble into triumph.
