Candlelight Christmas by Debra Samms

She came to Sawyerville to forget the man who broke her heart. Then, just before Christmas, he stepped out of the crowd and took her in his arms.

Emily Christine George has traveled three thousand miles to Oregon for one reason: to begin again.

Nicholas Verne was the boy she had loved since childhood—the wealthy young man destined for Harvard and a life far above the station of a poor farmer's daughter turned mill girl. When he left New Hampshire without coming back for her, Emily finally accepted what she believed had been true all along.

A man like Nicholas would never marry a woman like her.

So Emily joins the brides bound for the rough logging town of Sawyerville, determined to bury the past and somehow build a new future. Months pass. Other brides marry. Christmas approaches. And Emily begins to wonder whether she might finally be ready to let Nicholas go.

Then, during a candlelit December dance, another man suddenly takes her into his arms.

Nicholas.

He has followed her all the way to Oregon—and insists he never abandoned her at all.

He says he wrote letter after letter.

Emily never received a single one.

Now an old love has been given an impossible second chance, but before Emily and Nicholas can find their way back to each other, they must discover what happened to the letters that might have changed everything.

Against Christmas trees, flickering candles, snowy winter nights, and Sawyerville's first Christmas Eve celebration, Emily must decide whether she can trust the man she never stopped loving—or lose him for the second time.

A tender, clean and wholesome historical Western romance filled with second chances, frontier friendship, forgiveness, Christmas warmth, and the promise that sometimes true love only needs one more chance to come home.
