Ladies' Leap Day by Debra Samms

She crossed an ocean to find a husband. If Sawyerville's stubborn bachelors won't propose, she will.

Bridget Lynn McGuire did not survive a brutal fabric mill and a ten-week journey west only to sit quietly in the Ladies' House while the men of Sawyerville drag their feet. Inspired by an old Irish custom, the spirited redhead plans a Ladies' Leap Day dance—a night when the women will choose their partners and ask the most important question themselves.

Bridget already knows which man she wants: tall, blue-eyed logger Erik Nelson. But Erik refuses to be cornered into marriage, even by the strong, beautiful woman he cannot forget. When Sawyerville's bachelors vanish on the night of the dance, Bridget's daring plan ends in public humiliation—and a clash with Erik that threatens any hope of love between them.

As wounded pride gives way to tender walks, quiet courtship, and a second chance, Bridget must decide what true courage requires. Can a woman bold enough to chase her future find the strength to stop chasing—and trust the right man to choose her freely?

Warm, humorous, and heartfelt, Ladies' Leap Day is a clean historical Western romance about an unconventional proposal, a spirited Irish bride, and the rugged logger determined to win her heart.
