Marjorie's Maytime (Restored Classics to Go Edition) by Carolyn Wells

Spring bursts to life in Marjorie's Maytime, where Marjorie Maynard and the Jinks Club launch a joyful May Day celebration filled with homemade crowns, bright costumes, and mock-royal ceremony. Led by little Rosy Posy, the children parade, sing, dance around the Maypole, and enjoy pink treats while Miss Hart adds a touch of history to their playful traditions. The season's delight soon carries into the Maynard household, where Mr. Maynard reveals a much-anticipated "pet" that turns out to be a red automobile, promising a month of family adventure. With the touring car, the Maynards set out on a grand country journey to visit both grandmothers and travel through New England, while the children revel in new motor outfits and the thrill of the road. Between rides, they plunge into imaginative mischief—disguising themselves as Quaker ladies, fooling neighbors, and delighting in games and surprises. Uncle Steve adds to the fun with a Noah's Ark hunt and a Captain Kidd treasure dig, followed by dainty feasts and sweet rewards. Warm, lively, and full of childhood invention, this story celebrates family closeness, seasonal wonder, and the magic of play. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
