At the Crossroads of Science and Faith: How to Reconcile Reason and Religion in an Age of Chaos by Rich Trzupek, Ann Bridges

What lies at the crossroads of science and faith? Everything. Prepare to embark on a voyage of discovery. Advances in science add to our collective pool of knowledge, but not everyone realizes that those advances also reveal new mysteries leading to questions that seem increasingly unsolvable. Or as author Rich Trzupek observes, the more we know, the more we realize certain things are unknowable.

What is the truth?

Science, by definition, will always change and challenge. New discoveries in the sciences often reveal amazing new truths, but sometimes they uncover fascinating questions, some of which seem more and more unsolvable using temporal and material tools.

For example, consider that for hundreds of years many scientists viewed the universe as eternal. They believed it had no beginning and would have no end. Today, based on discoveries over the last hundred or so years, most scientists believe the universe had a beginning and will have a cold, dead inevitable end. Knowing there was a finite starting point for both time and space as we know it inevitably leads to the question: what caused it to happen?

Renowned chemist Rich Trzupek pairs up with Silicon Valley author Ann Bridges to re-engage a lost generation struggling to make sense of a rapidly changing world, some of whom embrace a secular god in science and technology, while rejecting faith as superstition. Trzupek and Bridges argue that the two are not at odds, but—considered properly—exist in harmony.

Each compels reconsideration of the limitations and knowledge gaps in modern science, and where faith supplies surprising answers. Trzupek's personal story and unique writing style provides needed clarity missing from today's dialog. Bridges supplies back-to-basics definitions, facts, and context. Humor threads their theme of the underlying wonder of impossible unknowns, and their homage to a Creator greater than any scientist, inventor or technologist.

In an age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robots, and a space-based future, rediscovering what mankind relied on for generations—faith in a greater power—is the commonsense solution.
