Looking for the Melody by Ina Yakubeika

Looking for the Melody is the first story in the In the World of Music series, created to introduce young children to music through imagination, discovery, and adventure. One day, curious and energetic Capelka hears mysterious sounds in the forest and begins to wonder where they come from. Her search leads her to Lunik, a thoughtful traveler who carries a very special book — The Book of the Musical World. Together, they follow the sounds, ask questions, listen carefully, and begin their journey in search of Melody. Instead of presenting musical ideas as a traditional lesson, the story allows children to discover them naturally alongside the characters. Through simple conversations, observations, and playful exploration, young readers are encouraged to listen closely, notice differences in sounds, think about what they hear, and make their own discoveries. Capelka’s curiosity and Lunik’s calm, thoughtful nature complement each other as they explore the musical world together. Their adventure shows children that music can be found not only in instruments, but also in the sounds that surround us. Designed especially for young children beginning their musical journey, Looking for the Melody combines storytelling with early music education, turning the first steps into the world of music into a warm and engaging adventure.
