Still Needed by M. Othaman

AI won't take your career. But the colleague who can prove their value might take your seat.

You're not imagining it. The pressure on experienced professionals right now is coming from two directions at once: AI that can draft, summarize, and analyze faster than you can, and a hiring market that quietly favors candidates half your age. Still Needed doesn't offer comfort. It offers evidence: real court cases, real research, and a real ninety-day plan to make your experience impossible to overlook.

This book is written for professionals in their forties and fifties who are not early-adopter technologists and don't want another hype-driven "AI will change everything" book. It validates that the disruption is real, without tipping into panic, and then moves quickly into what you can actually control.

Inside, you will learn to tell the difference between the parts of your job AI can already do, the parts it can only help with, and the parts it fundamentally cannot, using the Automatable, Augmentable, and Durable framework that anchors the entire book. You will see how your judgment becomes your most marketable asset, backed by real cases including Mata v. Avianca and Moffatt v. Air Canada, where a human being's oversight was the difference between a costly failure and a save. You will build a documented record of the AI-oversight work you are already doing, the emerging skill set companies are quietly starting to pay for. You will learn to convert two decades of experience into a resume and LinkedIn profile that reads as current, not legacy, without hiding a single year of it. And you will follow a staged, ninety-day plan, audit, reposition, and prove, that moves you from anxious to essential, one honest week at a time.

This book also addresses directly what most competing titles avoid: the compounding pressure of AI disruption and age bias together, and honest guidance for readers who cannot afford to quit, retrain full-time, or take a pay cut right now. Every chapter in the plan produces something real you can use immediately, not just information to feel better informed about.

Grounded in legal precedent, labor-market data, and a plan you can actually follow, Still Needed makes the case, with evidence, for why your experience is not the liability you have been told it is. It is the argument. You bring the ninety days.
