AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate (DEA C01) by Miguel Brito

AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate A Complete, Decision-Oriented Study Guide for the DEA-C01 Exam Passing the AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate (DEA-C01) exam is not about memorizing services. It is about making the right architectural decisions under ambiguity, constraints, and long-term operational trade-offs. This book was written for that exact purpose. Unlike traditional study guides that focus on feature lists or isolated services, this guide trains you to think the way AWS expects a professional data engineer to think: defensively, systematically, and with an operational mindset that prioritizes correctness over time. What Makes This Guide Different This is not a shortcut book. It is a complete, exam-grade decision playbook. You will learn how to: Identify the dominant constraint in complex exam scenarios Eliminate technically correct but contextually wrong answers Recognize common AWS exam traps and elegant distractors Reason across multiple AWS services instead of treating them in isolation Choose architectures that remain correct months later—not just on exam day Every chapter is built around mental models, decision frameworks, and anti-patterns that mirror how AWS evaluates answers. Designed for Selective, High-Yield Study This book is not meant to be read cover to cover. It is designed for selective, goal-oriented study, with multiple reading paths depending on where you are in your preparation: A full conceptual pass for alignment with AWS expectations Targeted reinforcement for weaker domains A final, high-yield review focused on end-to-end architectures and exam traps Clear guidance is provided on how to use this book efficiently, even with limited study time. Fully Aligned with the DEA-C01 Exam The content is explicitly mapped to the official AWS exam domains and task statements: Data ingestion and transformation Data store selection and modeling Data operations, monitoring, and automation Security, governance, and compliance End-to-end architectural judgment Later chapters deliberately integrate multiple domains, reflecting how the real exam moves from isolated knowledge to holistic system reasoning. Who This Book Is For This guide is intended for candidates who: Have 2–3 years of data engineering experience Have worked with batch and/or streaming pipelines Are familiar with AWS data services Want to pass the exam by improving decision quality, not memorization It is not an introductory cloud book, a programming tutorial, or a service reference manual. What You Will Gain By the end of this guide, you will: Understand why AWS expects certain answers Spot exam traps before they cost you points Make fewer unforced architectural errors Approach the exam with confidence and clarity If you are looking for a serious, decision-oriented preparation guide—one that respects both the complexity of modern data engineering and the reality of the AWS exam—this book was written for you.
