The Price of Redemption by R.S. Michael

"The truth is a brutal weapon..."

Major Grant Sievers survived the battle for York, but the war within him rages on. Wounded and confined to an infirmary, he grapples with the fragile truce he's found with his brother, Lucas. Yet, the echoes of a fevered confession—secrets of Fort Detroit and the River Raisin—haunt his recovery, overheard by a watchful nurse. Can he truly mend his body when his soul remains fractured?

General Brock's impending inspection casts a long shadow, forcing Grant to confront his battlefield hesitation and the ambiguous choices that defined his past. With accusations of disloyalty a constant threat, Grant knows reconciliation with Lucas demands more than mere words. It requires an honest accounting, a full reckoning with the man he has become.

The quiet desperation mounts. As the war outside escalates, Grant must navigate the subtle emotional minefield of his confined world, seeking not just physical recovery, but a deeper understanding of himself. He observes, he listens, piecing together a future that hangs precariously between duty and redemption.

His honor, his family's reputation, and the fragile hope of genuine connection with Lucas all hang in the balance. Will Grant find the courage to confront his past and forge a new path, or will the weight of his moral choices consume him?

The gesture was small, practical, the kind of thing a brother did for another brother without thinking. But between them, after three years, it felt like a door opening a crack."
