Aruun’s Blackwater Canticle by Jaffer Sadiq

In Aruun, memory is a luxury—and forgetting is the law. When a man is found drowned on dry bone steps, Mara Vey is called to read the last trace of his death. What she finds is impossible: blackwater in his lungs, a warning whispered through the corpse, and a vision of herself standing over him.The trail leads beneath the immortal city, through ribbed archives where stolen lives glow inside glass, toward a secret that has been buried beneath every ritual of silence. With a child who can open doors made of daylight, a disgraced cartographer, and an inspector whose loyalty is beginning to fracture, Mara must uncover who has been editing the city’s past. But every answer pulls her closer to the memory she was made to forget. In the drowned chambers below Aruun, something is waiting to be remembered.Aruun’s Blackwater Canticle is a dark fantasy mystery of buried memory, impossible crime, and the dangerous cost of truth.
