What Is This All For? (Finding Meaning, Purpose, and a New Direction When the Life You Built No Longer Feels Enough)

You built the life you were supposed to want. The career. The responsibilities. The milestones. On paper, everything may look fine. And yet, somewhere along the way, a quieter question begins to surface: What is this all for?

What Is This All For? is a thoughtful and practical guide for anyone entering the second half of life and wondering why achievement, success, and stability no longer feel like enough.

Through relatable stories, honest reflection, and practical exercises, J.R Louis explores the hidden gap between a life that looks successful from the outside and one that feels meaningful from within.

In this book, you will learn how to:

• Recognize when old definitions of success no longer fit

• Separate your identity from your job title and achievements

• Understand what genuinely gives you energy and what quietly drains it

• Reconnect with values, relationships, and interests that still matter

• Discover purpose without needing to quit your job or completely reinvent your life

• Make better choices about how you spend your time in the years ahead

• Use the 30-Day Next Chapter Experiment to turn reflection into small, practical action

This is not a book about abandoning the life you built. It is about examining it honestly, keeping what still matters, letting go of what no longer fits, and creating a next chapter that feels more like your own.

You do not need to have everything figured out. You only need to begin with one honest choice.
