The Sunset Village Sleuth by Prince Penman

When retired high school English teacher Dot Morgan moved to Sunset Village, she expected peace, quiet, and maybe a good book club. Instead, she got a front-row seat to a murder. The gated retirement community of Sunset Village seems like paradise—manicured lawns, friendly neighbors, and a gate that keeps the outside world at bay. But when a mysterious new resident moves into the old Finch place, Dot's well-honed teacher instincts kick in. Something is off about Harold Finch Jr.: he avoids eye contact, leaves at midnight, and carries a photograph with a single word on the back: Remember. Then Dot finds his body. What begins as a nosy neighbor's curiosity becomes a full-blown investigation that unearths a forty-year-old disappearance, a buried confession, and secrets the residents of Sunset Village thought they had locked away forever. With her notebook in hand and her friends by her side, Dot proves that age is not a limitation—it's an advantage. Perfect for fans of The Thursday Murder Club, The Marlow Murder Club, and Murder, She Wrote, this cozy mystery celebrates the wisdom, wit, and quiet courage of older protagonists. Join Dot Morgan as she discovers that the gates of Sunset Village keep secrets in, not out.
