Fate and Cinder by Sapha Burnell

It’s time to give Stana her due.

Recovered from his breakneck spiral, Caleb Mauthisen wakes in Tuija’s flat with family around him. Midgard is shifting, the Judge feels it on the breeze.

Ares is gone.

With Ares re-assuming the mantle of Tyr in Asgard, Midgard is left unsteady. Caleb is forced to stand on his own, no fail safe, the weight of a world and Truce that don’t forgive hesitation.

And Stana, the volatile god-killing Keeper of the Book of Knowledge, hit landfall.

Unmoored and steeped in the schemes of Delilah and Stana, Caleb’s escaped uncle Magni surges through Midgard like a bludgeon given flesh.

Caleb must unravel the Truce’s cryptic lies around his growing powers, before his uncle destroys what control Caleb cobbles together. His best lead to end Stana’s threat comes from a confounding source:

Delilah’s delinquent daughter Lilith. Whether the child is a victim of Stana’s evil magic, or a fledgling con artist helping her mother dupe him is yet to be discovered.

The deeper he digs, the more the world is stoked back into ember and flame.
