What Color Is My Day by Marcia Kasabach

Teach Your Child to Identify and Express their Emotions

Want a child to feel better or cope with their emotions? Visualize it with a color. It's powerful and it's child's play. Color is a simple tool that can empower children to determine the feeling or energy vibration of their day.

A simple change of color

Can brighten up my day.

I choose one for the mood I want

And chase out gloomy grey.

In this picture book, a chameleon leads the child through many color changes, naming feelings for each change. Their color is a focused choice that assists in how they'll feel and react to a variety of life's experiences.

Color and play tap into the innate ability to visualize and see with their mind's eye, that all young children possess.

The poem takes children through one hue at a time: "soothing," "safe," and "warm" blue; "bright and snappy" orange; "confident" purple; "vibrant," musical red; "dreamy" pink; yellow for playing with friends; and green for exploring and growing.
