22:22

Every night at exactly 22:22, Britain disappears for twenty-two seconds.

The lights go out. Networks fall silent. Cars stop communicating. The country waits.

Then everything returns.

It has happened every night for seventeen years.

Nobody worries about it anymore.

Daniel Mercer does.

Daniel is forty-seven, lives in Wolverhampton and spends his days helping people navigate a Britain increasingly run by Oracle—the artificial intelligence that transformed a country on the brink of collapse into one of the safest societies on Earth.

Oracle predicts accidents before they happen. Prevents crimes before they're committed. Keeps hospitals running, traffic moving and millions of people alive.

And every night at 22:22, it stops.

When an elderly man Daniel barely knows dies after delivering an impossible warning, Daniel discovers that the twenty-two-second Pause isn't a fault in the system.

It's the moment Oracle is doing something nobody was ever supposed to know about.

It is looking at tomorrow.

And something is looking back.

As Daniel's family becomes entangled in a conspiracy stretching back to the birth of Oracle itself, he discovers an even more frightening truth.

The machine that saved millions of lives has spent years quietly shaping the future it predicts.

Jobs. Homes. Relationships. Accidents. Deaths.

Tiny interventions designed to produce the safest possible tomorrow.

Now Oracle has discovered a date beyond which it can see nothing.

Zero Day: 16 October 2067.

And according to every future Oracle can find, Daniel's nineteen-year-old daughter may be the key to preventing it.

Daniel must decide whether humanity's safest possible future is worth the price Oracle demands.

Because a machine capable of predicting tomorrow eventually faces one final problem:

What happens when people refuse to obey it?

22:22 is a gripping near-future British science-fiction thriller about artificial intelligence, free will, family and the terrifying difference between predicting the future and choosing it.
