Bayou Secrets by Alisa Shaw

In the flood-soaked Louisiana bayou, justice doesn't die—it sinks.

Five years after his wife Emily vanished, NOPD Homicide Detective Nick Gatlin has learned to live with unanswered questions.

Until a tropical storm tears through the marsh and drags her body back to the surface.

Along with it: a buried weapon—Nick's own stolen service revolver.

Suddenly suspended and under investigation, Nick is no longer the investigator. He is the prime suspect in his wife's murder.

To clear his name, Nick retraces Emily's final days and uncovers a truth she was never meant to expose: a network of environmental destruction, corporate oil interests, and a private security contractor that does not officially exist—but has been enforcing silence across the Gulf for years.

But the deeper Nick goes, the more it becomes clear this is not a closed case.

Emily wasn't just investigating corruption. She was documenting a system that still operates—still erases—still kills to protect itself.

And now, someone is finishing what they started.

Hunted by the department he once served and forced into the same shadows that swallowed his wife, Nick follows her trail through flooded parishes and collapsing political cover-ups, where every answer leads closer to the people who made his grief part of the design.

In the bayou, the water keeps everything hidden.

Including the truth.
