Faultline by Georgia M. Martin

Structural engineer Reyna Voss doesn't scare easy. She's spent her career finding the flaws that other people miss — the hairline cracks that bring buildings down. So when her own forensic report on a fatal bridge collapse turns up evidence that the failure wasn't an accident, she knows exactly what she's looking at: a cover-up with her name now attached to it. She just didn't expect the cover-up to come looking for her. After a break-in at her office and a warning note is not enough to make her walk away from the case, her firm's insurer assigns her a new condition for staying on the job: round-the-clock protection from Marsh Security, run by a former Army Ranger who takes threats as seriously as Reyna takes her math. Deacon Marsh doesn't do slow build. He does exit routes, secure phones, and zero tolerance for a client who won't stay put — until the woman in his charge turns out to be smarter, tougher, and far harder to keep at arm's length than any job he's taken before. Trapped together in a borrowed lake house while the case closes in, Reyna and Deacon are forced to trust each other with more than their next move — she with the fear that got her into this, he with the failure that got a man killed on his last assignment. But someone with a very long reach wants Reyna's evidence buried, and they're running out of time before whoever silenced the first witness decides she's next. As the threats escalate and the walls between them come down, Reyna and Deacon have to figure out who's really pulling the strings — before the truth collapses on top of them both. Fast-paced, twisty, and unflinching in its stakes, this edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense delivers a slow-burn to a full-burn romance alongside a conspiracy that hits closer to home with every chapter. Tropes: Bodyguard Romance, Forced Proximity, Woman in Danger, Slow Burn, Small-Town Safe House, Corporate Conspiracy
