"i'll Leave It to You" by Noël Coward

Noel Coward's I'll Leave It to You opens in the snowbound comfort of Mulberry Manor, where the Dermott family's polished wit conceals a growing financial crisis. In the Christmas-season hush, practical Sylvia, teasing Bobbie, dreamy Evangeline, youthful Joyce, and their anxious mother, Mrs. Dermott, trade sparkling banter while the threat of ruin begins to surface. When Mrs. Dermott finally admits the family may be forced to give up the house, the play shifts from domestic comedy to a sharper tale of inheritance, responsibility, and fragile security. Their only hope lies with Daniel, a wealthy bachelor brother returning from South America. His arrival brings blunt questions, comic embarrassment, and a startling challenge: a doctor has given him only three years to live, and his fortune will go to whichever relative proves they can "make good." Eighteen months later, the household is transformed into a hive of half-finished ambition, romantic promise, and anxious self-improvement, as the family struggles to turn talent into achievement and hope into a future.
