Eleonora by Edgar Allan Poe

In a paradise of multicolored grass and flamingos, a lover questions if finding new happiness is a betrayal of the dead. The spirit of his first love returns not to haunt, but to absolve him of his earthly vows in a whisper on the wind. It offers a rare, gentle perspective on the continuity of love and the forgiveness of the afterlife.
