Catholic Lent Devotional for Kids by Ashley L. Johansen

Lent can feel confusing—even overwhelming—for children. They hear about “giving things up,” trying harder, or being extra good, but often miss the deeper beauty of the season: drawing closer to Jesus in a way that feels joyful, gentle, and real. This Catholic Lent Devotional for Kids was thoughtfully created to guide young hearts through the 40 days of Lent with clarity, warmth, and encouragement. Instead of pressure or perfection, this devotional offers grace. Instead of complicated theology, it provides simple Scripture, meaningful reflections, heartfelt prayers, and small daily action steps children can actually understand and live out. Each day follows a comforting rhythm designed for growing minds and tender hearts: • A carefully selected Bible verse • A relatable reflection written in child-friendly language • A short, heartfelt prayer • Thoughtful reflection questions • A simple, practical step for the day From learning to trust God with worries, to practicing forgiveness, gratitude, courage, patience, kindness, and generosity, this devotional gently teaches children how to live their faith in everyday moments—at school, at home, and with friends. Parents often struggle to explain Lent in a way that resonates. Children can feel unsure about what they’re supposed to “do.” This book bridges that gap. It helps kids understand that Lent isn’t about being perfect—it’s about opening their hearts. It reassures them that God meets them exactly where they are: in their homework, friendships, big emotions, and quiet prayers. As Easter approaches, your child won’t just have “completed” Lent—they’ll feel it. A softer heart. A stronger faith. A deeper understanding of God’s love. A clearer connection to Jesus. Whether used independently, as a family devotional, or as part of a classroom or parish activity, this book becomes more than reading material—it becomes a daily companion through one of the most important seasons of the Church year. If you want your child to experience Lent not as a burden but as a beautiful journey toward Easter joy, this devotional is the perfect place to begin. Give your child the gift of a meaningful Lent—one filled with faith, growth, and peace. Order now and begin walking together toward the joy of the Resurrection.
