Blood Guilt by Michael Joens

Raging canyon fires in Los Angeles uncover the remains of four people that were murdered fifty years ago. Their identities are unknown until Detectives Tom Rigby and Dan Bolt utilize the technology of Rapid Prototyping to raise their images from the ashes. After several news broadcasts, an elderly man comes forward with a story to tell.
The victims belong to a family, one of whom was once a beautiful starlet, touted by Hollywood seers in the 1950s to be the next Rita Hayworth. A network of drugs, greed, and blackmail unravels in the quiet hills of Chavez Ravine, with dark tentacles reaching back into old Hollywood and the incoming Brooklyn Dodgers. It’s a baffling cold case mystery. But when another murder occurs, connecting the old with the new, it becomes a whole new ballgame.
To complicate the investigation, Tom’s personal life is shattered by his ex-wife Carolyn who’d left him for another man, but now wants a second chance at love, even if it means destroying Tom’s romance with Detective Sandy Cameron. Tom wants no part of it, but Carolyn is persistent and threatens to destroy him.
Blood Guilt is an exciting police procedural that will keep the reader guessing from start to finish.
