Patient’s Privilege by Richard Morvillo

Without warning, Timothy Shea, a clinical psychologist at an elite clinic in New York, is thrust into the middle of a criminal investigation. The circumstantial evidence against him is compelling, but he maintains his innocence, claiming he is being framed. In his fierce pursuit for exculpatory evidence, he discovers a deep, dark secret involving patients at the clinic—one that implicates renowned psychiatrist Abner Reeves. Professional ethics—the patient’s privilege—bar Timothy from disclosing the treachery of Dr. Reeves. But Timothy has a second reason to pierce the privilege: The confidential information he has incidentally uncovered is crucial to his defense.
Timothy tries various means to circumvent the privilege and expose Reeves’s scheme. Dr. Reeves has too much to lose if his secret gets out, so he wages a campaign to discredit Timothy. Does Dr. Reeves have something to hide? On the verge of being tried for these crimes, Timothy sets out on his own in a last-ditch attempt to exonerate himself, leaving him vulnerable to unforeseen dangers from a cunning, resourceful man bent on preserving his reputation and career at all costs.
Patient’s Privilege is a roller-coaster ride pitting two strong-willed professionals against one another in a battle to see whose version of the truth will prevail. Who can be trusted? Who’s to blame? And most importantly, who should you believe?
