The Sheriff of Sun-dog by W. C. Tuttle

In the sun-blasted county of Marlin City, Sheriff Brick Davidson is a red-haired cowpuncher with a sharp tongue, a stubborn sense of justice, and a talent for making enemies in the name of law. Backed by his towering deputy Silent Slade, Brick takes on a bitter range feud when the cattle association's new maverick policy threatens old habits, crooked dealings, and powerful ranch interests. His mission soon turns personal: on the road to Weeping Tree ranch, where he secretly hopes to find the courage to propose to Jean Martin, Brick uncovers a wounded Scott Martin beside a hidden branding operation and realizes someone has tried to silence him. As suspicion spreads, Brick battles Jeff Seldon, Pete Kane, and a web of resistance that reaches from the Star Dot ranch to the saloon in town. A hidden Winchester, a suspicious stranger, and rumors of political pressure on Brick's office point to a deeper conspiracy behind the shooting. With loyal friends like Mrs. Wesson, Lafe Freeman, and Bunch Thornton standing by him, Brick refuses to back down, even as a new threat looms with the arrival of sheep on the range. In this hard-edged Western, cattle politics, frontier justice, and personal loyalties collide. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
