The Patience Reset by Jean Lumi

You are gentle with everyone except yourself, and you are quietly exhausted from holding everything together.

Life keeps moving, and somehow you are always trying to keep up. We drum our fingers at red lights. We sigh at slow replies. We move through our days three steps ahead of the moment we are actually in.

That constant hurry has a cost — to our attention, our relationships, our energy, and our peace of mind.

What if slowing down is not falling behind, but finding your way back to yourself?

In The Patience Reset, Jean Lumi offers a warm, practical guide to finding calm in a world that will not slow down. Drawing on years of hands-on wellness work and her own experience of learning to live less hurriedly, she explores how impatience quietly enters the body, work, relationships, parenting, money, waiting, change, grief, healing, and ageing.

This is not a book of rigid routines or quick fixes. It is a companion for anyone who feels stretched thin, overstimulated, or tired of living as though every delay is an emergency.

At the heart of the book is a simple five-step practice:

Pause. Breathe. Name. Choose. Return.

Through real stories, gentle reflections, and practical resets for everyday life, you will learn to:

— Notice the rush before it becomes your reaction
— Create space between emotion and response
— Protect your attention in a world that constantly pulls at it
— Bring more patience into relationships, work, conflict, and uncertainty
— Slow down without giving up ambition
— Quiet the pressure to solve everything immediately
— Rediscover the ordinary moments you have been moving too fast to notice

Each chapter explores a different place where impatience takes hold and offers a kinder way forward.

This is mindfulness for real life — not another thing to master, but a way to come back to your own rhythm.

You do not need the world to slow down before you can feel calmer inside it.

You do not need to rush through life to fully live it.

Slow down. Breathe. Begin.
