The Covenant of Salt by Dale Haak

It’s time to take a closer look at the historical narratives of God’s people in both Testaments from the perspective of their use of temporal authority and the Lord’s engagement with them in that respect. The Covenant of Salt is a thought-provoking and biblically rich book filled with material that will help readers better understand politics, particularly within the framework of Christianity in the United States.

Immerse yourself in the historical context of Jesus’s execution in which three groups—the Roman authorities, the Zealots, and the Jewish religious leaders—find common cause in the elimination of an innocent man whom each saw from their own perspective as a threat to their ambitions.

These three groups serve as the prototypes for the development of three distinctive idolatrous approaches to political dominion, which are labeled triumphal, tribal, and clerical. Each of these errors are examined with respect to how the associated divinely gifted political aptitudes were corrupted in their respective practitioners in each case, both in Old Testament and New Testament manifestations.
