Becoming Maxine by Jessica Goldwatch

Jessica Goldwatch wrote Becoming Maxine, her debut novel, inspired by her years in New York City. On a recent trip back, the city reawakened something in her—the energy, the noise, the sense of possibility. After years devoted to raising her children, she began writing later in life and has been writing ever since.
