Death on Mars by Mark Iliff

When a shattered body is found out on the bleak red dirt of Mars, the thriving small town that has grown up around the first settlers is shocked.

Seven years on from his arrival with Lol, Meena and Kimi, Beau finds his life utterly changed. Because the town's first-ever incident is as serious as it gets… and he is the newly appointed sheriff.

The hunt is on to find answers. Helping Beau is Marlee. Her talents are undoubted, but her attitude pisses him off… early and often. Can they work together and give the town the result it needs? With the nearest actual detective a hundred million kilometres away? If they do catch a killer, how will the town mete out justice? And will Marl achieve her very unhidden agenda?
