Burnover by Cass Merrick

Two men. One fire tower. Nowhere left to run — and no fire left to hide behind.

Rafe Delgado has spent two seasons letting Ellis Kade hate him. It was easier that way. Hating him back was armor, and armor was safer than admitting the truth about what he actually wanted from the cocky hotshot crew boss who blames him for the evac call that nearly killed his people.

Then the wind shifts. The blaze burns over their only route down, the radios wash to static, and the two men who can't stand each other are pinned together overnight in a remote lookout with nothing to do but survive — and, finally, stop pretending.

When the fire crowns the ridge and Ellis says the thing they've both been swallowing for two seasons, Rafe has to face that his fury was never really about the bad call. But the fire doesn't get to make the choice for them. Dawn brings the rescue chopper, the crew, and every practical reason the night was supposed to stay in the tower — and now, sober and terrified and out of danger, they have to decide whether what they admitted while everything burned is something they'll actually keep.

A high-heat, enemies-to-lovers MM romance novella. Forced proximity, a bi-awakening two seasons in the making, and a hard-won HEA. Perfect for fans of Annabeth Albert and Roan Parrish.
