COGNITO by Gabrielle Marie Kozak, Autumn K. Reid

The grids are down. The power is out. In an Omaha apartment, one woman is waiting for her roommate to get back from work-two days late. Then someone takes the rain she's collected in buckets and Gabrielle Zapata realizes survival is up to her.

In one of the extremely few functioning vans on the American continent, a Chinese strike team has one target: a civilian author known as Gabrielle Zapata who wrote the dystopian novel their general has adopted as propaganda literature.

She never intended to write a war. Mao Lin started it anyway.

But he forgot the author was just that-the author.

COGNITO: Zapata's Memoirs is a metaphysical WWIII strategic thriller with an ex-nun as its center of gravity and a man who believes he's the protagonist as its villain.
