Randy Kraft The Scorecard Killer by J.D. Renner

HE KEPT A LIST. POLICE BELIEVED IT WAS A RECORD OF THE MEN WHO NEVER MADE IT HOME.

For more than a decade, young men were found dead along the highways of Southern California, scattered across different cities, counties, and jurisdictions. Some were Marines. Some were hitchhikers. Others had simply gone out for the night and never returned.

The murders appeared disconnected.

Until police stopped Randy Kraft.

In May 1983, California Highway Patrol officers pulled over Kraft for erratic driving. Inside his car sat the body of twenty five year old Marine Terry Gambrel. What began as a routine traffic stop quickly opened the door to one of the most disturbing serial murder investigations in American history.

Investigators searching Kraft's possessions uncovered photographs, personal belongings connected to victims, prescription drugs, and a handwritten list containing sixty one cryptic entries. Prosecutors believed many of those entries represented murdered men.

The document would give Kraft his infamous name.

The Scorecard Killer.

But the sixteen murders for which Kraft was eventually convicted may represent only part of the story.
