A Taste of the River's Justice by T.K.ANGA

In the heart of the Congo Basin, the deadliest threats don't always have teeth—sometimes, they wear the mask of a savior.

Nsilu was not built for the fierce, vertical world of the jungle canopy. Born with dull, dust-colored fur and clouded eyes, he is brutally ostracized by his primate tribe, blamed for the forest's droughts, and pushed to the absolute edges of survival. Starving, broken, and devoid of hope, the tiny outcast descends to the dark, tannin-stained waters of the Cuvette Congolaise, waiting for the jaws of the river's apex predators to finally end his pain.

Instead, his sorrowful, weeping song performs a miracle.

The beautiful, tragic melody pierces the heavy water, soothing the ancient, hardened hearts of the slender-snouted crocodiles. From the murky depths, a powerful young reptile named Ntemba emerges not to hunt, but to comfort. A joyous, impossible brotherhood is forged between monkey and monster, defying every brutal law of the African jungle.

But their cross-species love casts a dangerous shadow. Songo Songo, the treacherous son of the Chief Priest, is blinded by a toxic ideology of crocodilian supremacy. Disgusted by the friendship, he orchestrates a ruthless political coup. By holding the palace cook's hatchlings hostage, Songo Songo forces her to slip the fiery, paralyzing venom of the dreaded ordeal tree into the Crocodile King's daily tea. With the King trapped in an agonizing coma, Songo Songo demands the ultimate sacrifice to "cure" him: the heart of the monkey outcast.

As the underwater Council buckles under the weight of the royal crisis, Ntemba must navigate a deadly web of espionage, secret pacts, and phantom hearts to save his brother. The deception builds to a lavish, high-stakes banquet, where a rusted guillotine waits in the center of the hall, and a brilliant, terrifying trap is masterfully sprung.

Blending the breathtaking ecological reality of the Central African rainforest with the mythic soul of a timeless fable, A Taste of the River's Justice is a gripping political thriller and a heartbreaking story of unconditional loyalty. It is the legendary tale of how the smallest, most forgotten outcast changed the shape of the river—and the thrilling origin of what it truly means to get a taste of your own medicine.
