24 by Joshua Rubin

At 6:04, something happened that neither of them can explain. David Mercer has a wife, a daughter, a career, and a talent for convincing himself that tomorrow will be different. Mara Reyes has an overdue electric bill, a job she desperately needs, and enough anger to keep almost everyone at a distance. They are strangers. They should have nothing to do with each other. But over the next twenty-four hours, ordinary choices begin carrying impossible weight. Familiar places don't behave the way they should. Conversations repeat. Time slips. A stranger seems to know too much. And somewhere beneath everything is a moment neither David nor Mara can quite remember. As their separate lives begin to collide, they are forced to confront the choices they excuse, the people they've hurt, and the uncomfortable difference between who they believe they are and what they actually do when no one seems to be watching. And as 6:04 approaches again, one question becomes impossible to avoid: What happened at the intersection? 24 is a supernatural psychological thriller about consequences, accountability, mercy, and the choices that reveal who we really are.
