Healing Your Inner Child Through Daily Prayers by Derek Harper

You picked up this book because you can be 35 or 55, competent and faithful for everyone else, and still flinch when someone raises their voice or goes quiet on you. You know the right theology about love and forgiveness, yet you feel abandoned when a friend does not text back, or hear the whisper that you are too much and not enough in the same hour. You may have tried to think your way into healing, but thinking alone never soothed a wound that was formed before you could think clearly. Whatever brought you here, you share one quiet hope. You want prayer to reach the place where the hurt actually lives, not just the place where you explain it.
This book is not a quick fix and it is not a demand to forgive everything today. It is not a 3 hour daily retreat you will not keep and it is not a technical manual that leaves your young heart behind. What you need is daily, brief encounter with a living presence who parents you where love once fell short. The pages that follow are a 30 day journey that teaches you exactly that, through 16 chapters of focused teaching, short prayers and 5 to 15 minute practices that stay with you at work, at home and in the car.
Inside, you'll discover:
• How to meet your inner child with God beside you instead of alone
• Why repetition restores safety more than a single insight ever can
• A safe inner home you can return to with breath and grounding
• Prayers for abandonment, shame, fear, loneliness and unheard anger
• Daily reparenting through nurture, protection, guidance and delight
• Morning and evening rhythms that hold your young heart steady
• Grief, forgiveness and play that return wonder to your faith
Each prayer is written to match a specific wound, so the child who felt invisible finally hears you are seen and the child who was shamed hears you are not condemned.
