Inner Child Workbook for Adults with ADHD by Ethan Walker

You picked up this book because your reactions often feel bigger than the situation calls for and you have wondered why encouragement to just try harder never helped. You may replay a casual comment for hours, feel shame after a small mistake, swing from excitement to shutdown, and cover it with humor, perfectionism or withdrawal. You grew up hearing more corrections than your peers and carrying the quiet belief that something is wrong with you. Whatever brought you here, you share one hope with every adult who opens this workbook. You want to understand early wounds while honoring how your ADHD brain works today, with practices that are brief, concrete and repeatable.
This book is not insight alone and it is not long journaling you will abandon. It is not a substitute for therapy when trauma is significant and it is not a grade you must pass. What you need is a workbook built for ADHD minds, short exercises you can do in 10 to 15 minutes, tied to existing habits and supported by visible, external scaffolding. The pages that follow build that path step by step, from why your inner child still hurts to daily rituals that respect novelty, movement and sensory needs.
Inside, you'll discover:
• Why emotional dysregulation lingers long after childhood corrections fade
• How to meet your inner child through images, body cues or one line logs
• The unseen report card and how to regrade labels like lazy or careless
• Maps for rejection sensitivity and shame spirals with pause and reparent scripts
• Making friends with feelings via window of tolerance and micro mindfulness
• Quieting the critical parent and installing a compassionate coach voice
• Safety, grief, memory rescripting, boundaries and self trust habits that stick
You will practice three portable moves again and again, notice what is happening, validate without contempt and choose one small adult action.
