How To Hear God For Normal People by James Anderson

You picked up this book because you pray and wonder if anyone is listening. You want to know what to do on Tuesday, how to handle the talk with your teen, whether to take the job, and why your mind races at 2 a.m. You have asked for guidance and heard silence, or you have heard 3 inner voices and cannot tell which is God, which is you, and which is pressure.
This book is not a call to become a mystic and not a promise of an audible voice from the ceiling. It is not new doctrine and not a way to skip wisdom. What you need is a simple way to recognize the Shepherd, through Scripture first, Spirit second, and peace and counsel third. The pages that follow give you that way. It is built for normal people with jobs, kids, and limited quiet, not for a retreat.
Inside, you will discover:
• Why John 10:27 applies to you and hearing is part of belonging
• The whisper of 1 Kings 19:12 and why closer beats louder
• 4 voices to sort, God, self, world, and accusation, and how to lower 3 of them
• How Scripture becomes your first filter and why 10 verses slowly beats 5 chapters fast
• How the Spirit nudges with peace as an umpire in 24 to 72 hours
• How to pray as Ask, Listen, Write in 3 to 5 minutes
• How to test with 6 checks and take a next step that costs $0 and saves 30% worry
You will not get a 5 year blueprint in 5 minutes. You will get 1 faithful step you can take before dinner, and it will reveal the next step. If you think you heard something and later learn it was wishful thinking, that is data, not failure. Keep a 3 column note for 14 days, what you noticed, what you sense, what happened next, and confidence grows 40% as patterns appear. Spend 15 minutes in the Word, 5 minutes listening, and 1 small obedience daily, and you will find the God who still speaks nearer than you thought.
